Program Overview The
Villanova Summer Business Institute (SBI) is a
nine-week, rigorous program for undergraduate
students and recent graduates with non-business
majors. The program is held on the Villanova
University campus, just 12 miles west of
Philadelphia, and is taught by Villanova School
of Business faculty members—not by teaching
assistants. Students may opt to reside on campus
or to commute to the campus daily.
SBI is unique in its integrative approach to
teaching the fundamentals of business.
Overarching
module topics provide you with a framework
within which to learn how the business world
operates. The creative and demanding SBI
curriculum enables you to gain an understanding
of business fundamentals—including economic
theory, accounting principles, financial
analysis, data management, consumer behavior,
the legal environment, and strategic
management—while also developing
cross-disciplinary skills—like verbal and
written communication, decision making under
adverse conditions, cultural competency, ethical
leadership, and innovative thinking—that will
help you gain a solid understanding of the big
