The Summer Business Institute curriculum is comprised of cross-disciplinary modules. You will learn about the basics of business through a broad range of integrated courses and cross-disciplinary topics—like Business Dynamics, Competitive Effectiveness, and Financial Management and Reporting—that will help prepare you to succeed after graduation. Through a curriculum that emphasizes innovation, creativity, and hands-on learning—including corporate site visits—you will gain a solid understanding of the big picture of business.

Course Listings

  • Business Dynamics (2 credits)

    Dynamic nature of business in a changing environment explored. Cross functional approach to understanding business operations. Emphasis on purpose of business; how business vision is actualized. Action learning, problem solving approach utilized.

  • Applied Economics (3 credits)

    Introduction to macroeconomics and microeconomics and the application of specific business decisions.

  • Corporate Responsibility (3 credits)

    Core concepts of business law, ethical decision making, corporate social responsibility and governance.

  • Financial Management and Reporting (4 credits)

    Foundation principles of corporate finance and financial accounting; emphasis on solving business problems.

  • Competitive Effectiveness (4 credits)

    Integration of marketing and management concepts as an approach to creating value in business.
