Combined BIS/MS in Human Resource Development

The combined BIS/MS in Human Resource Development program is designed to offer Part-Time Studies students a planned educational track that will prepare them for a career in the field of human resources. Interested students are encouraged to contact their Part-Time Studies academic advisor to declare their interest and for more information.  Prior to the start of their senior year, qualified BIS General or Leadership Studies majors will complete the required formal notification process that will lead to their admission into the graduate part of the program.  These students will earn the M.S. in HRD in conjunction with their BIS General or Leadership Studies degree in an abbreviated timeframe.   • a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0
  • completed all CORE courses
  • earned a minimum of 90 credit hours
  • a 3.2 minimum GPA in their major

Students who are admitted in the BIS/MS track will enroll in three graduate HRD courses during their final undergraduate year. The three courses listed below will count toward both the BIS degree and the M.S. in HRD.  Be sure to note that only grades B or higher will be counted toward the graduate degree.

  • PSY 8875 (Psychology of Organizational Change)
  • PSY 8475 (Organizational Training)
  • HRD 8210 (Human Resource Planning)

For students in the BIS/MS track, there is no change in requirements for the undergraduate major in General Studies or Leadership Studies. The same number of credits and the same required courses are still in place. The only difference is that the three graduate courses described above will be applied toward either the students' major courses or free-electives.
