Students earning a degree in Leadership Studies will learn to:

  • Apply analytical skills to sort through large amounts of information to focus on key points
  • Understand/influence/persuade a highly diverse group of internal and external stakeholders
  • Lead in an environment that spans global cultures
  • Lead ethically
  • Recognize how political and social issues interact with one's organization
  • Operate in highly ambiguous environments
  • Develop a high level of personal adaptability to learn from experience and adjust course as needed
  • Quickly resolve complex problems and perceive relationships among multiple, disparate issues

The Leadership Studies program curriculum requires a combination of the BIS core courses and ten specific Leadership (LDR) courses. The degree has been designed to provide the opportunity for BIS/Leadership Studies students to complete significant coursework outside their major which would complement and enhance the leadership program. Examples of these academic discipline areas may include, but are not limited to, Information Systems, Business and Communication.
